Job Purpose
The CSA/Driver is responsible for preparing and assembling flights, checking equipment, and delivering meals, beverages, and catering equipment to aircraft. The role ensures accurate and timely handover to cabin crew in line with client requirements, while strictly complying with aviation safety standards, hygiene regulations, and operational timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Comply with company code of conduct and ensure correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Collect flight loading schedules from Operations and plan deliveries according to airline requirements
Book vehicles and radios and complete vehicle inspections in line with company procedures
Collect catering equipment, including trolleys, bins, bars, and ice, and load vehicles according to aircraft configuration and flight schedules
Transport catering equipment to aircraft and remove used equipment after flights
Load and secure trolleys according to aircraft load plans and ensure flight controllers sign meal declaration forms
Conduct safety checks and operate hydraulic hoist systems to align vehicles with aircraft correctly
Transport used equipment to sanitation areas and return bar items to the unit for recycling
Report any vehicle or operational issues to the Shift Manager
Maintain cleanliness of work areas in compliance with HACCP standards
Ensure continuous communication with Operations throughout the shift
Reconcile check sheets with control sheets to ensure compliance with client specifications
Assemble trolleys, ovens, bars, and equipment according to menu and flight specifications
Prepare and assemble special meal requests as required
Ensure bar trolleys are stocked according to flight requirements
Present assembled trolleys to cabin crew for validation before handover
Confirm handover with ramp agents to ensure compliance with client expectations
Identify and report deviations or issues during loading and handover procedures
Operate vehicles in accordance with company procedures and ACSA regulations
Comply with all security, SHEQ, HACCP, food safety, and operational policies
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
Valid Code 10 driver’s licence with a PDP
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in in-flight loading
Practical training on aircraft types and load configurations
Willingness to complete ACSA ramp safety and security training
Willingness to undergo internal food safety and HACCP training
