Access World is an international commodity warehousing and logistics company offering specialized services in the handling, storage, and processing of commodities such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ferroalloys, project cargo, oil and gas, and various agricultural products. The company is an approved London Metal Exchange (LME) warehouse operator and provides LME-related services to traders, producers, financiers, and end users of base metals. Access World also delivers physical warehousing and logistics solutions for products including cocoa, rubber, cotton, and other agricultural commodities, while acting as a collateral manager for ferroalloys, minor metals, and oil and gas. Operations are managed through semi-independent regional offices supported by centralized corporate functions such as finance, HR, legal, commercial, and operations.

Reporting Line: Over Border Transport Manager
Department: Over Border – Transport
Location: Durban

Key Responsibilities

Capture and manage all shipments on the over-border transport schedule

Track deliveries and monitor loading and offloading delays

Maintain regular communication with customers and provide status updates

Monitor transport-related costs, including standing time, and obtain supporting documentation for recovery

Ensure all emails are addressed within 24 hours and all queries within 48 hours

Manage and maintain accurate filing systems

Monitor creditor payments and ensure timely processing of invoices

Adhere strictly to departmental standard operating procedures

Apply knowledge of abnormal transport and understand direct discharge processes before vessel berthing

Understand over-border transport routes and required import/export documentation

Ensure compliance with customs rules and regulations

Coordinate customs entries between transporters and clearing agents

Source and onboard new transport service providers

Coordinate cargo loading at ports and warehouses

Track cargo movements and tonnages

Prepare operational reports using advanced Excel skills

Maintain a system-driven, process-focused approach

Manage debtor-related activities, including invoicing, proof of delivery tracking, and recovery

Job Functions

Source trucks and negotiate transport requirements

Update daily shipment and operational reports

Liaise with transporters, ports, warehouses, and inspection teams

Track daily deliveries for all customers

Facilitate port loading operations

Follow up on customs releases to prevent standing time

Coordinate with warehouses regarding loading delays

Work extended hours and weekends when operationally required

Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Manage transport rates and maintain updated rate schedules

Ensure timely creditor payments and invoice processing

Handle claims and maintain records of damages, incidents, and accidents

Maintain shipment files, costing schedules, and proper document filing

Minimum Requirements

Matric qualification

Tertiary qualification or studies toward one (advantageous)

3–5 years’ experience in the over-border transport industry

Computer literacy with strong MS Office and Excel skills

Good communication and listening skills

Oracle system experience (advantageous)
