About the Opportunity
Sandown Motor Holdings (SMH) is offering an exciting apprenticeship opportunity for a motivated and passionate Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join the team at our Centurion workshop. This program is ideal for individuals who are eager to grow in the commercial vehicle industry and aspire to become qualified Diesel Technicians.
You’ll work under the supervision of experienced Technicians and gain hands-on experience while learning the trade.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Support
Perform repairs and maintenance under supervision.
Complete job cards and ensure all work is authorized.
Follow Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA) quality and safety standards.
Meet prescribed repair times and maintain efficiency.
Customer Service
Handle customer vehicles with care and professionalism.
Communicate potential issues or delays to the Foreman and Service Advisor.
Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Administration & Cost Control
Record all work hours and materials used accurately.
Follow DTSA warranty and maintenance procedures.
Minimize wastage of parts, oils, and consumables.
Submit completed job documentation promptly.
Housekeeping & Safety
Keep work area neat and organized.
Use tools and equipment responsibly.
Comply with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) regulations.
Self-Development
Take responsibility for ongoing learning and training.
Complete all MERSETA apprenticeship requirements and assessments on time.
Minimum Requirements
Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
Strong interest in diesel mechanics and commercial vehicles.
Commitment to completing the apprenticeship program.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
