Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for the safe, reliable, and punctual transportation of Kuyakhanya staff, programme materials, and nutrition supplies between the Port Shepstone Office, Kuyakhanya Playhouse, and Community Playhouse facilities. The role supports operational efficiency, safety, and compliance, contributing to the effective implementation of the programme.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Kuyakhanya personnel and programme materials safely and on time while complying with all traffic laws and organisational policies
Load, unload, and deliver nutrition supplies accurately to designated facilities in line with project requirements and safety standards
Ensure all delivery documentation is completed correctly and timeously
Conduct routine vehicle inspections, report mechanical issues promptly, and coordinate repairs with relevant personnel to prevent breakdowns
Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle and trip records
Plan efficient travel routes to minimise delays, fuel consumption, and operational costs
Adhere strictly to road safety regulations and organisational safety procedures
Work closely with supervisors, colleagues, and field teams to ensure seamless transportation support
Monitor fuel usage and manage resources effectively to improve efficiency
Identify potential transportation risks, such as poor road conditions, and take preventative measures
Report accidents, incidents, or hazards immediately to reduce disruptions
Provide dependable transport services that meet the needs of programme and field teams
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Qualifications
Grade 12 / High School Certificate or equivalent
Experience
2–3 years of professional driving experience
Valid South African driver’s licence
Basic understanding of vehicle inspections and common mechanical issues
Experience using GPS systems and basic route planning
Knowledge of South African traffic laws and regulations
Skills
