Location: Polokwane
Duties:
Attending Fire and Rescue calls. Manning of the Control Room. Daily vehicle and equipment checks. Attending Haz-Mat calls and special services. Day to day maintenance of the station, vehicles and equipment. Participate in group inspection and drills.
Perform effective and efficient fire services and respond to fire incidents in the area of jurisdiction. Ensure effective and efficient fire preventative strategies. Perform general duties as instructed by supervisor.
Requirements:
Grade 12. Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II with Hazmat Operations or equivalent. SAQA accredited qualification from: SAESI or IFE. No criminal record. Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). Medical Test NFPA 1582. 0-1 years’ relevant experience. Code C1 Driver’s license. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Competencies:
Good communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency conditions. Teamwork and discipline. Knowledge of firefighting equipment and procedures. Understanding of occupational health and safety. Carrying heavy equipment. Must be able to handle stressful situations. Must not be claustrophobic.
