About the Role:

Bidvest Facilities Management is hiring a Fleet Manager to oversee all aspects of company vehicles — owned, leased, or rented.

This role involves leading the fleet team, ensuring consistent vehicle availability to support client services, controlling fleet-related costs, minimizing risk, and managing fleet assets to meet return-on-investment targets.

The Fleet Manager will also be responsible for monitoring key metrics, reporting on performance, and promoting sustainable fleet practices aligned with business growth.


Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Operations & Leadership:

Oversee and manage the full fleet of vehicles across the company.

Ensure operational vehicles are always available to support service delivery.

Lead and manage a team efficiently, both on-site and remotely.

Develop strategies for optimal fleet utilization and cost savings.

Promote eco-friendly and growth-aligned fleet solutions.

Financial Oversight:

Develop annual budgets and forecasts.

Ensure fleet spending stays within budget.

Maximize asset returns.

Oversee accurate and timely invoicing and account processing.

Control and approve cost accruals.

Manage vendor contracts and cost agreements.

Asset & Data Management:

Maintain integrity of fleet master data.

Conduct audits and ensure compliance.

Handle acquisition and disposal of fleet assets.

Oversee data-related responsibilities, such as vehicle files and cost allocation.

Stakeholder & Client Management:

Attend regular client and business meetings.

Understand and address client-specific budget needs.

Work with Procurement to manage vendor contracts and explore alternatives.

Internal Controls & Reporting:

Host team meetings and share comprehensive fleet reports.

Address challenges proactively and communicate changes effectively.

Develop performance metrics and foster high-performing teams.

Operational & Quality Excellence:

Create and implement fleet management standards and policies.

Drive ongoing improvements in quality, risk management, and efficiency.

Benchmark processes against industry best practices.

Manage fuel use and implement cost tracking and reconciliation systems.


Qualifications:

Degree or diploma in logistics, fleet management, or supply chain.

Valid Code B driver’s license.


Experience:

7–10 years in fleet management.

Minimum 5 years managing a team (10+ members).

Skilled in contract negotiation and logistics.

Strong financial, HR/IR, and supply chain knowledge.

Experience with ISO 9001:2008 is preferred.

Proficient in MS Office; SAP and Visio experience is advantageous.

Familiar with South African road laws and OHASA regulations.
