Requirements
– Grade 12
– Accredited Firefighter 2 Certificate
– Accredited Hazmat Operations Certificate
– Code B driver’s licence
– First Aid level 3 Certificate (in-dated) or higher qualification
registered with the HPCSA
– Wildland Firefighter and Respiratory Protection Certificates
(advantageous)
– Driver Pump Operator Certificate (advantageous)
– Pass fitness assessments
– Minimum of 3 years continuous firefighting experience
inclusive of training period
– No criminal record
Key Performance Areas
– Carries out firefighting and emergency operations
– Preparing for emergency incidents and protection to reduce the incidents and
severity of fires and providing a safer environment for fire-fighters and communities
– Performing basic level maintenance training on fire service appliances and equipment to ensure operational readiness of such equipment
– Performs basic administrative functions
– Managing training and skills development and the transfer
of skills and knowledge.
Must be prepared to work at any fire station within the areas
of jurisdiction, as determined by the Chief Fire Officer
– incumbent be physically fit and able bodied
– Required to wear uniform and personal protective clothing
