About:
This is a trainee position where you will assist the Train Driver with the safe and efficient operation of trains.
You will receive both theoretical and practical training and must successfully complete certification to work independently as a Train Assistant. The role involves working on trains, in yards, and along routes to ensure cargo is transported safely and on time.
Requirements:
• Grade 12 with Mathematics and/or Physical Science
• No prior experience required
Other requirements:
• Must be physically fit (hearing, vision, mental fitness)
• Must be willing to undergo medical and safety assessments
• Must be at least 1.6m tall
• Must be able to carry heavy objects
• Must have strong coordination and psychomotor ability

Duties:
• Assist the Train Driver with safe train operations
• Prepare locomotives and equipment before departure

• Carry out shunting and movement of trucks in yards
• Monitor signals and track conditions during trips
• Assist during emergencies and protect the train when needed
• Complete administrative tasks and train journals
• Provide feedback on incidents and route conditions
