Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and/or Physical Science

Key responsibilities include:
Signing on duty and preparing assigned locomotives
Checking and placing required equipment on locomotives
Assisting with locomotive start-up and brake tests
Performing pre-trip inspections to meet safety standards
Executing shunting and siding activities
Observing signals and supporting safe train movement
Assisting during emergencies
Completing and submitting train journals after each shift
Requirements
Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and/or
Physical Science
Minimum Trainee Requirements
Minimum height of 1.6m
Psychomotor ability (assessed through Vienna Testing System standards)
Ability to carry heavy objects
Medical and Fitness Requirements
Willing to undergo medical surveillance and safety behavioural risk assessments during selection and every 12 months
Physical, hearing, vision, and mental fitness (verified through medical tests)
Additional Conditions
Must be willing to work shifts
Employees younger than 21 years may not undertake Train Driver or Train Control duties (as per SANS 3000)
