About the Programme
This role supports the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Directorate through coordination, reporting, and compliance-related administrative work. The position focuses on ensuring that OHS systems, reports, and records are accurate, organised, and aligned with legislative requirements.
The Administrative Officer works closely with management and relevant stakeholders to coordinate OHS activities, support audits, and maintain compliance documentation. The role combines reporting, coordination, and record-keeping across multiple timeframes.
Key responsibilities include:
Capturing and consolidating OHS reports
Organising OHS training sessions, workshops, and meetings
Coordinating site visits for the OHS Chief Directorate
Maintaining records of inspections, incident investigations, and training
Preparing compliance documentation for
audits and regulatory reviews
Tracking safety performance metrics and compliance progress
Promoting a culture of health and safety in construction environments
Compiling statistics weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually
Providing general administrative support to management
Requirements:
Grade 12 or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in:
Public Management
Public Administration
Management Assistant
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety administration
Knowledge of project management principles
Understanding of ISO standards
Familiarity with OHS compliance tools, including hazard and risk identification
Knowledge of the OHS Act and construction health and safety legislation
