Purpose
The purpose of apprenticeship is to prepare apprentices to operate independently and productively in preparation of being a competent qualified artisan.
The apprentice boilermaker will be trained to plan and prepare, manufacture, assemble, inspect, commission installations and assemblies, modify and repair components, and apply the knowledge and skills obtained in a variety of contexts.
Outputs
Expected outcome is the ability to plan and prepare work site, equipment, tools, consumables and materials for trade related activities and operations, use hand, power and measuring tools, install, assemble, fit,
connect electrical equipment and control systems. Test, inspect, commission, maintain and repair electrical equipment, control systems, installations, assemblies etc
Qualifications and Experience
N2 Subject:
Mathematics (pure),
Engineering Science,
Plating & Structural drawing,
Engineering drawing (draughting),
Metal worker’s theory,
Plater’s theory.
Or
N3-N6 Subjects:
Mathematics (pure),
Engineering Science,
“Plating & Structural drawing,
Engineering drawing (draughting),
Mechanotechnology.
Or
NCV Level 4:
Fundamentals;
First Additional Language (English),
Mathematics (pure),
Life Orientation,
Vocational subjects:
Engineering Process,
Professional Engineering Practice,
Applied Engineering Technology,
Welding.
