Job Purpose
The Barman is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including coffee and hot drinks.
The role includes creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring excellent guest service, handling payments, maintaining bar cleanliness, and managing stock levels.
Key Responsibilities
Mix and serve beverages (cocktails, spirits, wines, coffee, etc.)
Prepare garnishes and keep bar stocked with supplies
Serve beverages and assist restaurant staff with drink orders
Engage with guests professionally and recommend drinks
Handle payments, balance tills, and follow cash/card protocols
Monitor customer behavior and ensure a respectful, safe environment
Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of the bar area
Assist with bar inventory, place orders, and manage stock levels
Contribute to bar menu updates and create specialty cocktails
Serve light snacks and small food items as needed
Verify legal drinking age and apply responsible alcohol service
Minimum Requirements
Matric (Grade 12)
Proven bartending experience, including coffee preparation
Strong mixology and drink recipe knowledge
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work under pressure and multitask
High attention to detail and cleanliness
POS system knowledge and basic computer skills
Physically fit to stand for long periods
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
