Job Summary
An opportunity exists for a Belt Attendant (A2) to join the Engineering North Division. The successful candidate will report to the Chargehand or nominee and assist in maintaining the optimal performance and safety of conveyor belt systems to support efficient mining operations.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate
Completed a relevant, approved training programme
Advantageous: At least 3 months’ exposure to a mining or belt environment
Key Responsibilities
Assist in ensuring the availability and reliability of belt equipment (belts, idlers, rollers, scrapers, guards, trap switches).
Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work areas are always clean.
Conduct risk assessments in the area of responsibility.
Perform first-level inspections on conveyor belt systems and report deviations promptly.
Identify and clear blockages at transfer chutes using the correct lock-out procedures and tools.
Maintain safe storage and condition of tools and equipment.
