Job Purpose

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all aircraft and related facilities. This includes cleaning the interior and exterior of contracted aircraft (SAA and third-party), as well as hangars and premises.


Key Responsibilities

✈️ Aircraft Interior Cleaning

Clean interior of SAA and customer aircraft

Deep cleaning of toilets, carpets, chairs, and galleys

Clean cockpit, trash compactor, screens, and headphones

Clean removable items (e.g., chairs)

Remove spillages from aircraft and cargo areas

πŸ›« Aircraft Exterior Cleaning

Operate stackers, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, and skyjacks

Aircraft glazing and polishing

Wash and clean aircraft exterior surfaces

🏭 Hangar Cleaning

Clean hangar floors and hazardous spillages

Empty fuel, oil, and skydrol drip trays

Sweep hangars and empty domestic/hazardous waste

Wash hangars and basins

Clean mechanics’ stores

Operate floor scrubber

Position aircraft stands

🏒 Premises Cleaning

Remove foreign objects, boxes, nails, and pallets

Sweep streets, parking areas, and collect loose papers

Empty office paper recycling bins

Sort boxes for recycling

Operate trash compactors

βš™οΈ Aircraft Components Cleaning

Clean landing gears using approved equipment (including WAP machine)

Deep clean aircraft components with required chemicals

Clean cargo rails and toilet components


Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent

At least 6 months’ experience in the aviation appearance/cleaning section


Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of SAA Technical policies

Knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals

Able to operate aviation cleaning equipment

Attention to detail and safety awareness
