About the Role
The Coffee Squad member is responsible for championing coffee quality at customer sites. You will deliver operator training, conduct coffee assessments, and perform basic equipment maintenance for selected CIRO clients. Your work ensures exceptional in-cup quality, strong customer relationships, increased product visibility, and maximum machine uptime—all contributing to higher sales performance.
Reports to: Coffee Capability Manager
Key Responsibilities
1. Training & Customer Relationship Building
Introduce yourself to store management and explain the purpose of your visit.
Communicate product issues, training needs, or equipment concerns.
Ensure customers understand the service is billable before training starts.
Inform customers of any operational adjustments (e.g., grinder settings) and confirm alignment with SLA guidelines.
Encourage the consistent use of CIRO products.
Build long-term relationships to retain customers and grow product volume.
Complete all visit-related documents including Ciro CORE Evaluation, Training Register, and ESO.
Obtain sign-off from management on required documents.
Submit all online reports accurately and on time.
Escalate concerns internally while keeping customers informed.
2. Ensuring High Coffee Quality
Conduct freshness checks on CIRO products.
Test products through equipment and complete taste, grammage, and flowability assessments.
Inspect equipment for mechanical, aesthetic, and functional issues.
Calibrate and program machines to achieve quality standards.
Review staff skills to ensure correct preparation and cleaning procedures.
Monitor compliance with customer Head Office standards and report irregularities.
3. Basic Preventative Equipment Maintenance
Perform maintenance based on agreed service intervals.
Ensure all maintenance activities are thorough and signed off by store management.
Use the complete service kit and record spares on the Job Card.
Report major repairs and log technical service calls as required.
Alert customers about any malicious damage.
Identify and report potential business leads.
Manage and safeguard your tools and spare parts.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
Experience in coffee training.
Knowledge of coffee extraction and different equipment types.
Basic technical knowledge for fault-finding, service, and repairs.
Experience in customer service and on-site delivery.
Qualifications
Grade 12 / Matric.
Technical coffee equipment qualifications or coffee certification (advantageous).
Additional Requirements
Valid driver’s licence.
At least 2 years of driving experience.
Willingness to travel and stay overnight when needed.
