The Department of Agriculture has announced six (6) Data Capturer positions, offering an important opportunity for individuals seeking entry-level experience in the public sector. These roles play a critical part in managing agricultural information and ensuring that government programmes are supported by accurate and reliable data.


Purpose:
Data Capturers form part of the administrative backbone of government departments. Their main responsibility is to capture, organise, verify, and maintain information within electronic systems and databases to ensure that programmes are effectively monitored and evaluated.


Responsibilities:
▪︎ Successful candidates appointed to the Data Capturer positions will be responsible for a range of administrative and information management tasks, including:
▪︎ Capturing data from source documents into digital systems, spreadsheets, or databases
▪︎ Verifying and correcting errors or missing information during data entry


▪︎ Updating registers, records, and statistical information
▪︎ Maintaining electronic and physical filing systems
▪︎ Ensuring all captured data is accurate, complete, and properly stored
▪︎ Generating reports and providing information to relevant units when required
▪︎ Maintaining confidentiality and security of government data


Requirements:
Applicants interested in the Data Capturer posts typically need to meet the following requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
Basic computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of basic clerical and administrative procedures
Ability to capture and manage data accurately
Strong organisational and communication skills
