Howden, a Chart Industries company, is inviting applications for an experienced Driver position based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting and delivering spares to customers, sites, stores and power stations in Johannesburg and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed Driver will be responsible for ensuring that spares are transported and delivered safely and efficiently. Duties will include:

• Delivering spares to customer sites, main stores and power stations.
• Signing off and handing over spares at delivery locations.
• Checking loaded spares against the relevant spares lists.
• Maintaining accurate records of daily vehicle mileage.
• Communicating effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Keeping the vehicle service and maintenance records up to date.
• Following all applicable national road laws and regulations.
• Complying with company procedures, instructions, quality requirements and safety standards.
• Assisting the stores or spares department when driving duties are not required.
• Travelling extensively on a daily basis as required by the role.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• Valid Code EB driver’s licence or higher.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• At least 5 years of relevant driving experience.
• Excellent driving skills.
• Good eyesight and strong road awareness.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to deal professionally with customer queries.
• Computer literacy.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively each day.

Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should be reliable, safety-conscious and able to work independently. Strong communication skills and good customer service abilities are important because the Driver will interact with customers and site personnel during deliveries.

The successful applicant should also be able to maintain accurate vehicle and delivery records while ensuring that all company and road-safety requirements are followed.

Working Environment

This position involves regular travel throughout Johannesburg, surrounding areas and power stations. The Driver may also be required to provide support to the stores or spares department when not performing driving duties.
