About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced ESG Specialist to join our Health, Safety, and Environmental Management (HSE) Department.

This role reports directly to the HSE Manager / Fire Engineer and works closely with safety, compliance, hygiene, and ESG leaders across the group.

The position is designed to ensure ESG principles are strategically integrated into business operations, innovation, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

You’ll be responsible for aligning the company with local regulations, international ESG standards, and NASDAQ compliance requirements.


Key Focus Areas

Climate Change: Mitigation, adaptation, and resilience planning.

Environment: ISO 14001 implementation, environmental stewardship, compliance, auditing, and sustainable resource use.

Social Responsibility: ISO 26000, UN SDGs, stakeholder engagement, training, inclusion, and impact monitoring.

Governance: King IV, SASB, and TCFD alignment.

Reporting: ESG reports for South African authorities and NASDAQ.

Leadership: Driving ethical, responsible practices and stakeholder trust.


Responsibilities

Environmental

Develop and maintain Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

Conduct carbon footprint assessments (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions).

Oversee compliance audits and sustainable resource strategies.

Social

Lead stakeholder engagement and community development projects.

Implement training and capacity-building initiatives.

Monitor and report on social impact.

Governance & Reporting

Prepare ESG reports aligned with GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP frameworks.

Ensure compliance with NEMA, Companies Act, King IV, and related legislation.

Support executive leadership with ESG insights and risk assessments.


Minimum Requirements

🎓 Education

Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or similar.

Postgraduate qualification in ESG, Environmental Management, Corporate Governance, or Climate Change (advantageous).

💼 Experience

5–7 years in ESG, sustainability, or environmental management.

Preferably in energy, nuclear, chemical, or advanced manufacturing sectors.

Proven ability to:

Lead ESG strategy and reporting.

Ensure regulatory compliance.

Advise executives on ESG risks and opportunities.

Manage cross-functional initiatives.


Competencies

Technical Skills

Strong grasp of global ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, ISO 14001, ISO 26000).

Skilled in carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, and data visualization (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or ESG platforms).

Experienced in ESG risk assessment and mitigation.

Strategic Skills

Ability to integrate ESG into business operations.

Strong knowledge of South African and international regulatory requirements.

Audit readiness and policy development expertise.
