About the Role
Fermel is seeking a skilled and passionate Contract Trainer to develop, facilitate, and deliver impactful training programs that enhance the skills, safety, and knowledge of employees and operators.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring that all personnel working with underground mining equipment are fully competent and compliant with industry standards, customer requirements, and legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery & Facilitation
Conduct classroom and on-site training according to schedules and plans.
Provide hands-on operator training on Fermel’s trackless mining machines and equipment.
Assess and monitor operator competency and safe practices.
Training Development & Compliance
Align content with OEM specifications and health & safety regulations.
Update training materials and maintain accurate training records.
Competency Assessments
Perform initial, refresher, and remedial training evaluations.
Identify skills gaps and recommend targeted interventions.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with supervisors, safety officers, and managers to meet operational needs.
Support training for external clients, apprenticeships, and learnerships.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all training complies with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and the OHS Act.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
ODETDP Certificate or equivalent qualification
ETDP/Assessor/Moderator certification
Valid Driver’s Licence (Code 08 or higher)
Experience:
3–5 years in training and development (preferably mining or engineering)
Experience in operator training on underground mining equipment (advantageous)
Knowledge of MQA / QCTO processes and standards
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of underground trackless mining machinery, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and LMS platforms
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
