About the Role
Cashbuild is looking for a Forklift Driver to operate and maintain the forklift in a safe and cost-effective manner.
The successful candidate will ensure excellent customer service, proper stock merchandising, price labelling, and housekeeping within their designated area of responsibility.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 or at least 1 year of relevant work experience
Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Ability to work under pressure
Must be physically fit to operate a forklift
Valid forklift license required
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
Greet and assist all customers, identifying their needs
Provide accurate advice on products and handle product queries
Resolve customer complaints promptly
Promote add-on sales (e.g., paint with brushes, thinners, etc.)
Ensure efficient loading of customers’ purchases without delay or damage
Inform customers about additional services, including:
Delivery service
Glass cutting
Credit programs
Plan reading
Special orders
VIC Customer Programme
Be available and visible in the assigned aisle
Maintain product knowledge certification
Merchandising Standards
Merchandise bulk stock areas safely according to the store layout plan
Ensure shelves are fully stocked and labelled correctly
Follow approved planograms and merchandising layouts
Housekeeping
Keep aisles clear and safe for customer movement
Merchandise new stock immediately upon receipt
Maintain accurate and visible shelf pricing
Complete daily checklists (including canteen and toilet/showers schedule)
Ready for Business
Adhere to the “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” principles of the CB Way
Loss Prevention and Security
Identify gaps in displays, investigate causes, and report concerns
Be alert to suspicious behaviour and report promptly
Ensure no products are loaded for a customer without proof of purchase
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
Do not overload the forklift, racking, or shelving
Always wear a safety helmet and kidney belt when operating the forklift
Never use forklifts to lift personnel
Keep entrances and exits clear of obstacles
Report any forklift faults or mechanical issues immediately
Schedule forklift servicing on time
Wear protective clothing when required
Complete the daily forklift inspection checklist and report any issues
