Company Overview:

Faircape Life manages six luxury retirement and lifestyle estates across the Western Cape, located in areas such as Noordhoek, Kirstenhof, Tokai, Somerset West, and Onrus.

This position is based at Cle Du Cap, one of their retirement villages in the Southern Suburbs.


Role Purpose:

The Groundsman will be responsible for the upkeep of gardens and outdoor areas, ensuring the landscaping remains neat, healthy, and attractive. The role includes caring for trees, shrubs, lawns, and plants, as well as keeping the grounds clean and free of waste, pests, and diseases.


Key Responsibilities:

Garden Maintenance:

Trim trees and shrubs

Replant and reshape garden beds

Turn soil in plant beds

Mow lawns and trim edges

Remove weeds

Water plants manually as needed

Tools and Equipment:

Inspect gardening tools and machines before and after use

Clean tools daily

Maintain cutting equipment (e.g., oiling and sharpening blades)

Waste Management:

Collect household garbage

Separate recyclables from general waste

Clean and disinfect bins

Dispose of garden waste properly

General Housekeeping:

Tidy the workshop and staff canteen

Keep the area around the reception and security booth clean

Set up outdoor dining and umbrellas when the weather allows

Inspect and treat perimeter fencing for weeds weekly and monthly

General Maintenance:

Sweep synthetic turf and paved areas

Remove fallen leaves

Maintain clean courtyards and healthcare facility surroundings


Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Matric (advantageous)

Experience: Minimum 1 year in a similar role

Knowledge:

Gardening methods and plant care

Horticultural tools and machinery

Basic irrigation systems

Groundskeeping and basic maintenance

Health and safety regulations


Skills and Attributes:

Reliable and hardworking

Takes initiative and pays attention to detail

Punctual and well-groomed

Good team player with strong communication skills

Clear medical, criminal, and credit checks

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00 (with a 45-minute lunch break)
