South Deep Gold Mine is offering a formal learnership development opportunity for aspiring Winding Engine Drivers. The programme provides technical training in line with MQA/DMRE requirements.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Onsetter’s Certificate
- At least 5 years of shaft experience as a Banksman and/or Onsetter
- Be medically fit for the position and mining environment
- Pass the required Heat Tolerance Screening Test
- Successfully complete any additional suitability assessments required
🛠️ Key Responsibilities & Competencies
Successful learners will be expected to:
- Follow all applicable mine health and safety rules and regulations.
- Complete technical training prescribed by MQA/DMRE.
- Maintain consistent performance during scheduled technical evaluations.
- Take responsibility for their own career development.
- Participate in developmental discussions.
- Promote teamwork and contribute effectively as a team member.
- Demonstrate South Deep’s values of Safety, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Innovation and Collaborative Delivery.
- Communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
