LEVEL OF REMUNERATION: Band B R370 905 – R456 867 per annum

The generic minimum requirements applicable to all posts:
• Applicants must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post
• Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational)
recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) on at least NQF 4
• Be (proficient) in at least two official languages, of which one must be English
• Be a citizen of the Republic of South Africa of which documentary proof must be furnished
• Be in possession of at least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license
• Must have no previous convictions or pending criminal / departmental or civil cases
• Must not have any tattoo marks which will be visible when wearing any uniform of the
Service
• Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.
Additional Requirements
• Must have a three (3) year National Diploma (accredited by SAQA on NQF level 6 or
higher) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate Technician
will be an added advantage.
• Experience in the field of the post will be an advantage.
• Skills: Computer literacy, problem solving, and project management.
• Competent in CAD ‘Revit’ and any other related software.
Core Functions
• To undertake all mechanical engineering services to SAPS regarding Building projects,
maintenance projects and technical support under the supervision of a professional.
• Ensure technical compliance and quality certification on construction/ maintenance sites
and facilities.
• Prepare and compile technical documentations and specifications for the Bid/ Tender
committee.
• Ensure the implementation of effective, efficient and sustainable energy sources and
usage of new construction projects and existing facilities.
• Advise on and inspect mechanical engineering work on-site.
• Provide advice and guidance to external consultants under the supervision of a
professional.
