The company is currently offering an opportunity for a Production Planning Learner based in Johannesburg.
Production Planning Learner – Job Purpose
The successful candidate will support production planning activities by helping to plan, order and monitor the supply of raw materials and intermediates required for flavours production.
The role will also involve supporting the management of Production Orders throughout the manufacturing process, helping ensure that intermediates and finished products are delivered according to production requirements and planned timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning Support
The Production Planning Learner may assist the Manufacturing Manager or Production Shift Manager with:
- Supporting the development of local flavours production plans.
- Helping define production-related objectives.
- Adjusting production schedules when there are backlogs, design changes, material shortages or labour constraints.
- Monitoring production activities and analysing production information.
- Supporting the smooth flow of materials to meet manufacturing requirements.
Daily Order Fulfilment
The successful candidate will assist with various daily supply and order fulfilment activities, including:
- Monitoring raw material requests from order placement through to delivery.
- Providing supply forecasts when required.
- Monitoring the Material Request Plan (MRP) and stock levels.
- Helping ensure materials are available in the correct quantity and quality and delivered on time.
- Reporting on inventory levels and supply requirements.
- Placing orders when appropriate to help prevent disruptions to business operations.
- Monitoring supplier order confirmations.
- Tracking material deliveries from suppliers.
- Communicating with material requestors about delivery schedules, changes and exceptions.
Raw Materials & Inventory Administration
Responsibilities may also include:
- Analysing inventory levels and supporting efforts to prevent material shortages.
- Identifying obsolete materials and assisting with inventory optimisation.
- Capturing and maintaining accurate material information in relevant systems.
- Supporting accurate information flow between Purchasing, Quality Management/Quality Control, Production, Warehouse and other relevant departments.
- Working with systems such as SAP and CMS where required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Academic Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Technical Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
Work Experience
- Between 1 and 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to supply chain, production planning, quality or materials management will be beneficial.
Technical Skills
The following skills and experience will be advantageous:
- APICS certification is preferred.
- Knowledge or experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Showcase, AS400, WMS and Error Log in SAP/CMS is advantageous.
- Experience writing and performing queries in AS400 or similar systems.
- Basic understanding of financial concepts such as CAPEX and COGS.
- Costing experience will be an added advantage.
