SANParks – 2 x General Workers (Gladstone Section, Stables – Golden Gate Highlands National Park)
South African National Parks is looking to appoint two General Workers in the Conservation Department, based at the Stables in the Gladstone Section. The successful applicants will report to the Field Ranger Corporal.

Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Std 10) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
Ability to speak, read, and write English; knowledge of an additional language is beneficial
Physically fit (a fitness assessment will be conducted)
Chainsaw and brushcutter experience (proof of certification required)
Experience with horse riding, working in stables, and saddling horses
Added Advantages
Experience in conservation work (alien plant removal, fire management including suppression, firebreak implementation, prescribed burns)
Basic Firefighting Certificate
Knowledge of the OHS Act
Understanding of environmental laws, regulations, and procedures
Basic First Aid Certificate
Key Responsibilities
Assist in identifying and reporting horse health issues to Stable Supervisors or Horse Handlers
Help with horse vaccinations, feeding, grooming, and general care
Maintain the stables, surrounding terrain, gardens, paddocks, and office areas
Clean and maintain riding equipment such as saddles and bridles
Support stable staff with visitor outrides when required
Assist with erecting and maintaining fences
Participate in wildfire suppression, prescribed burns, and creating firebreaks
Help with erosion control and invasive plant removal
Assist with infrastructure upkeep including buildings, trails, and signage
Ensure proper application of Occupational Health and Safety practices

Work schedule includes daily duties, weekends, and public holidays
