Spoor & Fisher’s Centurion office is seeking a skilled Trade Mark Secretary with experience in trade mark prosecution.
The ideal candidate will support a Partner and handle a wide range of administrative and legal duties related to trade mark matters.
Minimum Requirements
Matric/Grade 12
Strong MS Office proficiency
A paralegal diploma or equivalent qualification is a plus
Excellent English language skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Able to work independently and collaboratively
Deadline-driven with a proactive attitude
Capable of managing multiple tasks and reporting to several team members
Key Responsibilities
Litigation Support
Draft documents such as letters of demand, undertakings, affidavits, and settlement agreements
Assist with company and close corporation name objections
Correspondence & Communication
Prepare and send correspondence to agents, clients, the Registrar of Trade Marks, and internal departments
Interact with court and sheriff office staff
Trade Mark Prosecution
Draft official action reports
Respond to compliance requests from the Registrar
Update clients on application statuses
Open, manage, and diarize files
File both local and international trade mark applications
Commercial Work Support
Assist with trade mark assignments, hypothecation agreements, and changes in name or address
Prepare powers of attorney and other related documents
Administrative Tasks
Compile trade mark schedules and price estimates
Conduct online research
Manage diaries, phone calls, and meeting arrangements
Record time, process invoices and credit notes
Update internal account systems
