About the Role
RCL FOODS, one of South Africa’s leading food manufacturers with brands like Yum Yum, Nola, Ouma Rusks, and Selati Sugar, is looking for an experienced Forecourt Bakery Trainer. This role supports customers by providing bakery and deli training, product preparation guidance, and introducing new products in collaboration with the sales team. The position reports to the Regional Technical Advisor.
Key Purpose of the Role
Train customers on product preparation, menu planning, and execution.
Provide guidance to ensure correct preparation of new and innovative product solutions.
Maintain training records for the Learning and Development Department.
Support store openings, trade shows, and promotional events.
Highlight business growth opportunities by introducing additional SKUs.
Minimum Requirements
Matric
Valid EB driver’s licence
2–3 years of practical bakery and deli training experience for individuals and groups
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Territory Strategy Execution
Implement sales and listing strategies for new SKUs in your region.
Drive improved rate of sale (ROS) at outlet level.
2. Customer Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with outlets to support business growth.
Act as a bakery and deli expert for RCL Foods at store level.
Train outlet teams across the full RCL product portfolio.
Conduct pre-call planning for each customer visit.
Address customer queries and complaints timeously.
Collaborate with Trade Consultants, agents, and Vector teams.
3. Marketing & Product Demonstrations
Showcase RCL Foods’ bakery and meal solution products to current and potential customers.
Explain the benefits and features of products in line with strategic customer profiles.
Prepare samples for product demonstrations.
Support key account store openings and major promotional events.
Escalate customer complaints through the appropriate channels.
4. Technical Support
Provide expert technical assistance to customers and key account teams.
Troubleshoot product or preparation issues using acquired bakery expertise.
5. Training Delivery
Conduct formal training sessions based on the Outlet Targeting Model.
Deliver ongoing training across all RCL product divisions.
Capture all training activities on the mobile app.
6. Reporting & Analysis
Compile weekly pre-call plans and detailed activity reports.
Keep accurate training, demonstration, and site-visit records.
7. Coordination & Self-Management
Manage your schedule effectively through proper planning and prioritisation.
Participate in promotional activations and ensure timely execution.
Provide market insights through Field-App reports and share operational challenges.
Monitor pricing for RCL brands and competitors across outlets.
8. Supply Chain Feedback
Identify operational or supply chain issues and report them to the Regional Technical Advisor or Trade Consultant.
