Job Overview
Gold One Group Limited is looking for a qualified Winch Driver (Grading B1). The role requires operating winch machinery safely underground, maintaining equipment, and following all mine safety policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10, 11 or 12 (or equivalent)
MQA Competency B Certificate
Completed winch operator training with a valid operating licence/certificate
Good verbal communication in English
Fluency in at least one of the 11 official South African languages
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Previous underground experience is essential
Strong written and verbal communication skills
South African citizenship
Clear criminal record
Medically fit as declared by the Occupational Health Centre
Key Responsibilities
Work according to rotational shift schedules
Perform all duties safely and as instructed during training
Inspect and monitor equipment and materials to meet company standards
Report any issues that may cause delays or safety risks
Maintain workplace cleanliness and follow housekeeping rules
Comply with underground Health & Safety policies
Wear required PPE (helmet, gloves, goggles, safety belt, gumboots, etc.)
Maintain all tools and equipment in safe working condition (spanners, pinch bar, hammers, chisels, rail, marlin spike, lip hooks, belts)
Conduct daily pre-use winch inspections and complete the checklist at the shaft
Report all equipment problems immediately to a supervisor
Never operate machinery that is unsafe or below mine standards
Ensure all machinery has proper guards
Remove fire hazards around machines and rope routes
Never work on moving machinery
Warn nearby workers before starting the winch
Maintain machinery and lock it out when unattended
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors
