ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Administration Clerk (Patient Affairs) position is a permanent government post within the Patient Administration Directorate.
The successful candidate will assist with patient registration, admissions, discharges, records management, reporting, and other administrative functions within the hospital. The role requires attention to detail, confidentiality, customer service skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Applicants should have:
– Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification
– Good communication skills
– Good interpersonal and customer service skills
– Ability to manage confidential information
– Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
– Ability to work under pressure
– Knowledge of patient administration prescripts and regulations
– Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations and Public Service Acts
– Knowledge of UPFS, National Archives Act, PAIA and National Core Standards
– Willingness to work shifts, after-hours, weekends and public holidays
Added advantage:
– Knowledge of PAAB or HIS systems
– Ability to communicate in more than two official languages
– 2–3 years’ experience in patient administration
– An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in Public Administration or a related field
– Experience in a hospital environment
– Residence in Pretoria

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Register patients on SAP
– Admit, transfer and discharge patients using SAP-HIS
– Capture patient information during downtime and update systems when restored
– Correctly classify patients and follow up on outstanding accounts
– Capture complete and accurate patient information
– Complete electronic and manual registration forms
– Request and follow up on required patient documents
– Schedule follow-up patient visits
– Compile and submit statistics and reports
– Ensure compliance with patient administration legislation and policies
