Transnet Young Professional Programme 2026

The Young Professional-in-Training (YPT) Programme is a structured graduate development programme offered by Transnet Freight Rail.

The programme runs for 24 months and combines formal learning with practical workplace exposure. Participants receive mentorship and regular assessments every six months to ensure progress and development.

These opportunities are open to unemployed South African graduates aged 18 to 35 who have completed qualifications in fields such as Human Resources, Psychology, Environmental Management, Data  Science, Marketing, Economics, Law, and related disciplines. Applications close between 12 and 16 June 2026 depending on the position.

Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be South African citizens

• Be between 18 and 35 years old

• Be unemployed

• Have completed the required qualification for the specific programme

• Have no prior work experience in their field of study

• Be willing to participate in a two-year structured development programme

• Have good communication and interpersonal skills

• Have basic computer skills

• Be able to work effectively in a team

• Demonstrate professionalism and integrity

• Possess research and analytical skills

• Be proactive and self-motivated

Added advantage:

• Persons with Disabilities (PWD) will receive first preference

• Preference will also be given to designated groups in line with Employment Equity targets
