Reports To: Boiler House Foreman.
Siqalo Foods is looking for an Ash Handler to support the Boiler House Foreman with various operational tasks in the boiler house. The main focus of this role is to remove ash produced by coal- and husk-fired boilers, transport it to the ash dump, and maintain cleanliness in and around the boiler area.
Minimum Requirements
Matric certificate
Basic knowledge of stoking
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a boiler house environment
Responsibilities
Repairs & Maintenance
Remove ash from the boiler using rods and direct it to the ash extractor
Clear blockages in ash chutes
Level ash in cocopans and empty them according to SOPs
Tool Management
Ensure power tools, hand tools, and equipment are in good condition and safely stored
Keep the tool register updated
General Support
Uphold 5S housekeeping standards within the department
Keep equipment and surrounding areas neat and free of unnecessary items
Teamwork & Productivity
Maintain high-quality and accurate work output
Support the team as needed
Safety, Health, Environment, Risk & Quality (SHEQ)
Strictly follow standard operating procedures, safe maintenance guidelines, and company policies
Comply with FSSC, safety, health, and environmental regulations at all times
