Minimum Requirements & Attributes
Grade 12 / NQF 4 qualification (essential).
PSIRA Grade C registration (advantageous).
At least 1 year of experience as a Wireman.
Basic electrical/electronic knowledge (advantageous).
Ability to work well under pressure with strong attention to detail.
Main Purpose of the Job
To assist the Installation Technician in setting up and maintaining security systems, including alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and intercoms. The Assistant Technician is expected to handle cabling, drilling, connecting detectors, and powering up systems independently according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the installation and setup of alarm and security equipment.
Remove existing security equipment when necessary.
Install new cabling, drill holes, mount detectors, lights, panels, and contacts.
Identify and report equipment shortages or limitations to the technician.
Ensure that all required cabling and tools are available for installations.
Support the technician during client handovers and explain system functions.
Keep vehicles and work areas clean after installations.
