Job Overview
RCL Foods is looking for a Despatch Clerk to join the Benoni Bakery team. The role involves keeping accurate records of all goods entering and leaving the bakery, ensuring trucks are loaded on time, and working closely with drivers. The position reports to the Despatch Coordinator.
Purpose of the Role
To accurately verify, record, and manage all dispatched goods, supervise timely truck loading, and ensure smooth daily despatch operations.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12
Valid driver’s license
Minimum 2 years’ experience in an FMCG environment
Computer literacy (MS Office, ERP/WMS systems)
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Good attention to detail and accuracy
Problem-solving and decision-making ability
Knowledge of logistics and dispatch procedures
Customer service focused
Health & Safety awareness
A National Diploma in a relevant field is an advantage
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all delivery trucks depart on time every morning.
Arrange replacement staff and internal distribution labour when needed.
Make sure despatch staff are always in full uniform.
Complete daily despatch reconciliation documents.
Keep accurate records of goods received and dispatched.
Capture data correctly and confirm customer returns.
Monitor and report stock variances.
Check that trucks are loaded correctly, safely, and meet hygiene standards.
Manage handovers during shift changes.
Verify correct quantities received from production.
Prepare and check delivery notes, invoices, PODs, and maintain documentation for audits.
Monitor stock in the despatch area and assist with stock counts.
Work with production, sales, and logistics to resolve discrepancies or customer queries.
Address issues such as delays, incorrect loading, or damaged stock, and escalate when necessary.
Suggest improvements to despatch processes and take part in training activities.
