Minimum Requirements
Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care (essential)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (advantageous)
At least 1 year of operational experience as an ECA
Valid driver’s licence and Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) (required for operational shifts; not required for events only)
Knowledge & Skills
Sound understanding of best practices in emergency medical services
Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and ECA scope of practice
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
Familiarity with local facilities, routes, and geographical areas
Ability to complete and manage Patient Report Forms accurately
Ethical, professional, and reliable work ethic
Detail-oriented with the ability to handle pressure effectively
Collaborative team player with a client-focused approach
Key Responsibilities
Provide emergency medical care under supervision within the pre-hospital environment
Ensure operational readiness for all emergency calls
Deliver patient care within the ECA scope of practice
Report near misses, incidents, and adverse events
Support senior practitioners, including Emergency Care Technicians, Practitioners, and Medical Officers
