Role Purpose
The Handyman will be responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the building.
This includes routine inspections, preventive maintenance, installation of equipment, handling repair requests, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
The role also involves supporting staff, attending to tenant needs, and keeping accurate maintenance records.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
Perform regular building inspections to identify and address maintenance issues.
Respond quickly to maintenance requests from tenants, supervisors, or managers.
Maintain doors, windows, lights, fittings, and toilets.
Inspect and service equipment such as air-conditioning units, pumps, water tanks, and fire equipment.
Carry out repairs or escalate issues that need specialist attention.
Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards and complete monthly reports.
Tenant Support
Assist with tenant installations, ensuring quality checks during and after setup.
Support new tenants during move-in and assist with partition removals or relocations when needed.
Maintain positive tenant relationships, ensuring complaints and urgent issues are addressed promptly.
Record-Keeping & Reporting
Complete work orders and track materials used.
Keep equipment maintenance logs and records updated.
Submit supply and equipment orders when required.
Ensure management is informed of major issues or developments.
Collaboration & General Duties
Work closely with building staff and management.
Attend meetings and provide support to other departments.
Keep work areas clean, safe, and secure.
Assist or step in for the building manager when needed.
Performance Measures
Maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Records and reports are accurate and up to date.
Equipment and facilities are well-maintained.
Strong communication and coordination with tenants, staff, and management.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Grade 10 (Standard Eight) with additional training in maintenance/repairs.
Experience: At least 2 years in a maintenance role.
Knowledge: Basic maintenance functions, safety protocols, and ability to read blueprints.
Skills: Independent worker, detail-oriented, strong hand-eye coordination.
