Job Purpose
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for preparing food according to menu specifications and production requirements while maintaining exceptional standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety. The role supports the smooth operation of the production area and ensures compliance with food handling and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Keep all work areas clean and tidy in line with hygiene standards.
Perform assigned duties according to instructions and report any irregularities to the Supervisor.
Ensure the correct airline equipment is used for each client or flight.
Operate dishwashing machines safely and handle cleaning chemicals properly.
Monitor cleaning supply levels and report shortages as needed.
Prepare extra or special meals as instructed.
Clean tools, surfaces, and equipment before, during, and after use following approved procedures.
Maintain an organised and sanitised workstation at all times.
Follow proper food handling and hygiene protocols, always using the correct PPE.
Be willing to assist in any department within Air Chefs operations when required.
Use stock according to rotation procedures (FIFO – First In, First Out) to prevent waste.
Comply with all company policies, including Security, SHEQ, HACCP, and Food Safety standards.
Identify and report any unsafe conditions or work practices immediately.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 (or equivalent).
Experience: 0–6 months in a production, kitchen, or similar environment.
Training: Must be willing to complete internal food safety and HACCP training.
Knowledge and Skills
Good communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Capable of working independently when required.
