ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The NCC Compliance Controller is responsible for helping maintain a safe workplace and ensuring that Health & Safety policies, NCC procedures, rules and regulations are followed, reviewed and updated.
The position involves compliance and monitoring, driver safety, fleet reporting, equipment and infrastructure checks, administration, Environmental Health & Safety support and participation in workplace health and safety activities.
The position is based at the Head Office in Centurion, Gauteng, and reports to the NCC Manager.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance and Monitoring
- Respond to employees’ safety concerns and institute investigations.
- Ensure customer expectations are exceeded whenever possible.
- Ensure systems are followed and customers are treated in a friendly and polite manner.
- Deal with positive and negative customer feedback in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure OHS compliance of all drivers.
- Circulate daily, weekly and monthly reports to the General Managers, National Fleet Manager, and Regional and National management committee members.
- Monitor driver safety using CCTV where available to identify OHS non-conformance.
- Identify tracking units that are not downloading and investigate the reasons.
- Provide feedback on tracking unit issues within 48 hours.
- Ensure faulty tracking units are repaired immediately through the Fleet Manager.
- Escalate exceptions and run trip reports from daily mileage reports to assist with investigating deviations and violations.
- Circulate daily, weekly and monthly fleet reports relating to identified safety violations.
- Run and circulate weekly risk management reports in line with driver performance.
- Ensure adherence to all Fleet-related SOPs nationally on Risk360.
- Interrogate feedback on daily fleet exception reports nationally and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Monitor driver behaviour and measure site visits against agreed client SLA requirements.
Equipment / Infrastructure
- Ensure tracking equipment is in good working order.
- Report damaged or faulty equipment to the Fleet Manager immediately.
- Ensure policies and instructions are followed during downtime to minimise service interruptions.
- Ensure proper handover of equipment at shift changes and confirm that equipment is working.
- Conduct scheduled system tests and report faults immediately.
Administration
- Ensure all procedures are stringently followed.
- Check information and reports provided to staff and management and correct obvious errors or omissions before forwarding them.
- Ensure any short-shift status in the contact centre is communicated to the NCC Manager.
Environmental Health & Safety Support
- Support the company’s EHS efforts.
- Report unsafe acts and conditions to management.
- Maintain familiarity with and comply with OHS policies and standards.
- Perform all tasks in the safest possible manner.
- Use prescribed personal protective wear when required.
- Follow safe work procedures when operating tools or equipment.
- Participate with managers in regular self-inspections.
- Attend relevant safety meetings and safety discussion sessions.
Health and Safety
- Participate in the design, development, review, implementation and monitoring of departmental annual safety plans.
- Participate in company safety forums, including safety meetings and safety talks.
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people.
- Discuss all safety incidents.
- Follow up on activities assigned through safety meetings, committees, representatives or management.
- Attend safety education and refresher programmes.
- Comply with workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Distribute safety information when required.
- Wear protective clothing at all times.
