Overview

Rand Water is seeking a skilled Researcher to support the organisation’s research and development objectives. The ideal candidate will conduct high-quality qualitative and quantitative studies, analyse data, generate actionable insights, and contribute to the improvement of programmes, services, and organisational strategies.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field – Essential

Postgraduate qualification in StatisticsAdvantageous

Experience

3–4 years relevant research experience

Strong knowledge of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method research

Experience using statistical tools such as SPSS, Survey System, Survey Monkey, etc.

Experience conducting fieldwork and managing research processes


Primary Duties

Research & Analysis

Conduct qualitative, quantitative, and hybrid research projects

Assist in designing research instruments (e.g., surveys, interview guides)

Use statistical programmes (SPSS, Survey System, Survey Monkey, etc.)

Perform data capturing, analysis, interpretation, and produce data tables

Fieldwork & Data Collection

Execute data collection across multiple platforms (online, telephone, face-to-face)

Manage and oversee fieldwork activities

Travel to Rand Water sites when required

Reporting & Insights

Prepare detailed research reports and presentations

Capture notes during presentations, workshops, and meetings

Present findings to internal and external stakeholders

Ensure quality control throughout the research process

Stakeholder Engagement & Administration

Liaise with internal teams and external partners

Participate in pre-engagement discussions with clients

Take part in vendor selection processes

Maintain awareness of budget requirements related to projects

Rand Water may choose not to fill the position.

Appointment is subject to a probation period of up to 12 months, evaluated monthly.
