Job Overview
Gold One Group Limited is seeking an experienced Rigger/Ropesman to join the Modder East Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safe and efficient rigging activities underground, including shaft work, slinging, rope maintenance, and inspections.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10, Grade 11, Grade 12, or an equivalent NQF qualification
N2 Trade Theory
Recognised Rigger/Ropesman Trade Certificate
5–10 years underground rigging/ropesman experience, including rope capping, splicing, and shaft slinging
Strong integrity and solid interpersonal skills
Valid South African Driver’s License (Code 08–10)
South African Citizenship
Clear Criminal Record
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the highest level of safety for yourself and team members by following all relevant procedures and standards
Promote a zero-harm safety culture in line with legislation, environmental, health, and security requirements
Conduct inspections as required by the Mine Health and Safety Act and company procedures
Carry out duties as per your legal appointment, particularly under regulation 16.74.1
Lead and supervise a rigging crew while building effective teamwork
Plan and execute safe movement, lifting, transportation, and slinging of equipment, bulk materials, and machinery
Responsible for planning, risk assessments, and the safe execution of shaft examinations, hoist rope maintenance, and related infrastructure
Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections and repairs on lifting gear and tackle
Maintain accurate records of equipment, inspections, and repairs in line with regulations and mine standards
