SAPS Security Officer Jobs 2026: 117 Posts Across South Africa Now Open

Looking for a permanent government security job? The South African Police Service (SAPS) is recruiting 117 Security Officers across several provinces, offering a salary of R170 226 per year (Level 03).

These opportunities are available in multiple SAPS divisions throughout South Africa. Applicants must have Grade 10 (NQF Level 2), a valid PSIRA registration, and at least a Grade C Security Certificate. Some Supply Chain Management posts close on 17 July 2026, so eligible applicants should apply as soon as possible.


ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

SAPS is recruiting Security Officers to protect government facilities, staff, visitors, vehicles and equipment across various operational divisions.

Successful applicants will perform access control, patrol SAPS premises, monitor security systems, inspect visitors and contractors, and help maintain a safe working environment.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Applicants should have:
Grade 10 / Standard 8 / NCV Level 2 (NQF Level 2)
South African citizenship
Proficiency in English and at least one other official language


Valid PSIRA registration
Grade C Security Certificate or higher
Not declared unfit to possess a firearm
Willingness to complete firearm competency training
Willingness to work shifts and extended hours
Knowledge of access control procedures
Knowledge of security legislation and emergency procedures
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to patrol buildings and operate security equipment
