Purpose of the Role

The Head of Group Security Services will provide both strategic and operational leadership for Nedbank’s security function.

The role focuses on safeguarding people, assets, and operations through effective risk management aligned with the bank’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities include overseeing physical and protective security, personnel and travel risk, crisis response, intelligence gathering, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with security regulations.


Key Responsibilities

Lead and build a high-performing, accountable security team.

Develop and implement security strategies, policies, and frameworks aligned with Nedbank’s goals and regulatory requirements.

Conduct risk assessments and apply mitigation measures to protect facilities, people, and operations.

Manage incident response and crisis management at group level.

Maintain threat intelligence capabilities and monitor political, social, and crime trends.

Collaborate with law enforcement, regulators, and private stakeholders to manage risks and incidents.

Oversee security technology (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, analytics) from procurement to lifecycle management.

Ensure executive protection programs are in place where required.

Drive adoption of emerging security technologies (AI, IoT, blockchain).

Oversee vendor contracts, compliance, and performance.

Manage the security budget and ensure effective resource allocation.

Provide assurance and expert advice to senior management and the Board.

Promote a culture of awareness, compliance, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field.

Preferred Certifications: PSIRA registration, Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).


Experience

Minimum 10 years in senior security management, preferably within the banking sector.


Knowledge & Skills
