Role Overview
Howden SA is looking for a Storeman to join the team in Booysens. The role involves accurately receiving, issuing, and managing spare parts and stock items, ensuring all inventory procedures are followed, and keeping the warehouse safe and well-organised.
Key Responsibilities
Collect a picking list to issue spares or a Transfer Inventory form to receive spares from the supervisor
Manage the receiving and dispatching of spares, checking for correct quantity and quality
Ensure all items are properly packaged, labelled, and documented
Store items in the correct areas and maintain proper stacking and storage standards
Scan all items received or issued using a handheld device
Use a forklift and overhead crane for daily loading and offloading
Carry out routine safety inspections and take part in safety training
Report to the Stores Supervisor daily
Notify the Supervisor of any tools needed
Open the stores in the morning and ensure it is securely closed at the end of the day
Assist with random stock counts and annual stocktakes
Complete daily timesheets
Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe warehouse environment
Support other departments occasionally, and work overtime or weekends when required
Required Experience and Qualifications
Education: Grade 12 (Matric)
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Storeman
Licences: Certification to operate a forklift and overhead crane
Skills: Computer literacy and the ability to read, write, and work with numbers
