ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Technician: Utilities will monitor utilities management systems covering water and electrical energy utilisation.
The role includes monitoring substations, high-voltage distribution networks, depots and equipment to support efficient electrical supply, reduce electrical expenditure, improve network availability and manage compliance with relevant legislation, standards, regulations and codes of practice.
The position also involves maintenance monitoring, utilities billing, energy-saving initiatives, risk management, asset management and technical support for strategic utilities projects.

– Lead analysis of Power Factor Correction to reduce electrical distribution network wastage.
– Support discussions around loading profiles and provide guidance on solutions to improve network efficiency.
– Monitor utilities billing and cost recovery against unavailable networks.
– Identify, quantify and report supplier utilities billing cost factors.
– Monitor compliance with Electricity and Water Supply legislation.
– Support modifications to existing high-voltage electrical infrastructure to ensure compliance.
– Lead OHS Act 85 3-monthly meetings with relevant stakeholders to identify and address electrical distribution network risks.
– Contribute accurately to the monthly utilities report.
– Monitor maintenance activities to achieve a 70%/20%/10% split between Preventative Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance and Unplanned/Emergency Maintenance.
– Participate in engagements with the Project Management Office on strategic utilities management projects.
– Provide technical input on equipment and material requirements for utilities management projects.
– Monitor Life Cycle Asset Management principles and processes using the asset register.
– Support change management relating to replacement of old assets and updating of relevant Life Cycle Asset Management principles.
